I manage multiple accounts and have projects in all states: talked about, working on, back burner, on hold, etc. Managing those can be tough, but one thing that I am working with is a master list. I call it the Big Scary List of Things To Do. Just saying that makes it seem not so scary for me.
I lusted after this planner system from Franklin Covey that had a separate planner for each month when my husband said, "you could just use spiral notebooks." Well, the FC planner was over $50 and the spiral notebooks were .15 each so I went with the spiral plan.
How they are set up:
I have 12 notebooks and they are all dated - two pages per day.One side is for To Do items, I make a column on that page that has all of my appointments (I do put those in iCal that syncs with my Droid so I can be reminded several ways. Life gets busy and I need that.)
The other side is for notes from meetings and I make the bottom of the page the place to put ideas for things like this blog post.
Nothing fancy!
In the back there are post it notes with client names on it so if I have specific meetings or things I need to remember for that client I have a chunk of paper to write them on.
The Big Scary List of Things To Do has been on a separate list on a clip board that I added every task that needed to be done as they came up with a column for the client. The clip board system works, but isn't as portable.
So, now I am going to add the Big Scary List to the front of every month - that way I can add to it as I float in and out of meetings. That makes the most sense to me.
Here is a photo of what a typical day looks like. This is definitely a new way to keep track of what is going on and I will let you know how it progresses. I am finishing up month one and so far I am loving it. Even though it did mean I had to get a killer new Keen bag that would fit the notebook. Yep, I'm a girl; I love new bags.
