Thursday night is the heavy hitter for prime time and although we didn't stay loyal to anyone network we felt we got the full gist of what was happening that night.
We started with consistently funny Big Bang Theory and despite the fact it has a laugh track it had some high notes and some obvious character inconsistencies. Yes, only geeks like my husband and I would notice that Raj all of a sudden could talk to Beatrice... he has issues talking with women. It wasn't great, but it was good.
Next up was a switch to NBC to see my favorite comedian, Amy, in Parks and Recreation. Of all the shows that we watched last night this was one of the best. It has a great ensemble cast of funny people - which probably helps.
Then the highly anticipated The Office. I had been anxiously awaiting James Spader's take on the Michael Scott role, but something must have happened when he said he would take the job. Because instead he had replaced the very wonderful Kathy Bates (who I realize is on Harry's Law) and Andy was the new Michael. Weird. It was.... well, just ok and might lose its spark this season. We shall see.
After that I started watching the highly touted Whitney, but quickly got bored and went and took a bath. Do I really need to watch another show where women are reduced to showing their ass and wondering if they are having enough sex with their partner? Sorry. There were funny parts (I could hear my husband laughing), but I missed them. Oh, well. I had a book to read. Remember those?
There are probably other shows to be reviewed, but I'm done for now. The best thing I can say are there are a lot of strong women on TV right now and even though some of them are resorting to wearing nurse costumes (sorry Whitney) there are a lot of great parts - and that is a move forward for television.
