The holiday was wonderful - quiet and sweet with moments of happy tears - just what I like about holidays! We had the Sirius Holly channel on 24/7 and listened to Nat King Cole swoon about fireplaces, delivered small gifts to girlfriends, and ate way to many sweets. Our chocolate consumption should hold us until Valentines, for sure!
In October our local sewing center sent a Bernina catalog out and it was decided at that moment to get our daughter a machine. We couldn't have picked a better gift. It wasn't something she asked for, but after opening it she was in utter silence - not sure what to say. A moment, most parents treasure - when you know you have chosen something that they truly like... and not just tolerate.
In the last three days she has made a robe, place mats and napkins, a pillow with button holes, pillow cases, and is working on a quilt cover for her duvet - a whole lot of sewing is happening here.
Because we realized doing things is one of our greatest pleasures we are working to slide things around (remember our house is in a constant state of home improvement projects) and move the guest bed (our daughters bed) upstairs and the craft table downstairs into what was her room, but is now my office. So, that room will function as workout space (treadmill, weights, yoga mat), work space, and craft room. I am so excited. It will take a couple of days to slide the puzzle around, but when it happens it will be wonderful to have a dedicated work room.
