I left my 40th year behind last month - see ya! It was actually a pretty great year. I did a bunch of stuff on my 40/40 Challenge. I didn't do a bunch of stuff on my 40/40 Challenge. I tried new things. I sat a lot - a good thing, not a couch potato thing. The question now is what to do with my 41st year? I have decided to break the year into monthly themes.
October: Right Speech - this is one of the Buddha's Eight Fold Path that is broken out like this: 1.to abstain from false speech, especially not to tell deliberate lies and not to speak deceitfully, 2. to abstain from slanderous speech and not to use words maliciously against others, 3. to abstain from harsh words that offend or hurt others, and 4. to abstain from idle chatter that lacks purpose or depth. Positively phrased, this means to tell the truth, to speak friendly, warm, and gently and to talk only when necessary. We'll see how I can rock that.
November: Food and my relationship to it.
December: Hospitality - not the fake kind where you have parties to impress people, but the real kind where you bring grace and kindness to your relationships on an everyday basis.
January: New Beginnings. Shedding things that don't work and adding things that do.
February: Small Gifts. To share my small gifts with people and to celebrate others small gifts.
March:
April:
May:
June:
July:
August:
September: Celebrate - this month will be about celebrating the BIG and little things.
Yep, there are blanks. I am working through this and what I want to do with it. You'll see more! I promise!
