I was FINE! Really. I didn't need another thing. I was content to be a little old school and behind the times. Goodness we CHOSE to live in a house that is over 100 years old, in Arkansas, in a rural setting. We chose to give up good jobs to live the country life. We chose this and we were fine.
Until I read that damn Cathy comic.
As a rule I don't read Cathy. I think she is shallow, body obsessed, and shopping crazy. I glance at it every so often, but it isn't a regular read.
Last week her husband did something I wouldn't do, but boy I wish I would. He bough a 3G iPhone. He did it without asking. Without thinking of the costs of switching to AT&T. Without consulting Cathy, his wife.
Now, I said I could live without an iPhone until they were available on any network. So, that gives me 5 years or so before Apple is out of it's contract with AT&T. I figured it was fine to live without on demand internet answering every question I had wherever I was. I had convinced myself and my daughter that this is a good thing.
But then Cathy. NOW I WANT ONE. I want to stay up all night downloading widgets, I want to watch the Olympic replays on a tiny screen. I want to ask Wikipedia questions on demand. I want all of that.
I looked at all of the other so called Touch Tech phones offered by Verizon and Alltel and there just isn't anything that compares.
So, now it is a contest to see if I can truly wait it out or if I sucummb just like Cathy's husband did.
