Ok. If this works this is pretty cool. Being able to update my blog
from my email account. Because really I am in my email much more then
I am, obviously, on my blog.
So, the Secret... have you seen it? Did you see the Oprah special on
it? Have you gone to the web site? Today at church the woman who gave
the talk spoke about the Secret. It seems to be the hottest thing
right now. In the last two days I have seen a spoof of it on Saturday
Night Live, heard Bill Maher make fun of it, had two people recommend
it, and then heard about it at church. It's funny how things are HOT.
I am sure it is a phase, but there must be some validity to the ideas
in it or people wouldn't be talking about it so often.
You know you have hit something when people start making fun of it!
So, from what I gather, and I have not watched it, the idea is that
you attract what you put out. And that law of attraction is just as
valid and clear as the law of gravity. Now, I will tell you that when
My Sparkly Girl heard about this "law" during church she wanted to
stand up and yell that they were crazy. She is a firm believer in
science and this sounded phoney to her little ears. Of course instead
she whispered her indignation to me in the back row of the sanctuary.
We did contend that thinking good things is a good thing. That
perhaps good things happen when you are putting good things out
there... but that is as far as she would go.
Myself, I don't know. I think there may be something to it. If you
believe that good can happen... well you start noticing good. So, it
is happening.
It doesn't deal with the larger issues of poverty, illness, war, and
injustice, but for middle class america we are able to do this kind
of work... we can waste time on our thoughts. I guess that in itself
is, if not a good thing, a lucky thing.
