Last night My Sparkly Girl decided she wanted to spend a day in silence just processing all of the things in her head. Here are the rules to her day of sitting in silence:
- You have to be quiet all day, from sun up to sun down.
- You can write. (So you remember all of the things that you process.)
- You should do as little cooking as possible so there should be peanut butter and jelly sandwiches made the night before and a crock pot of soup to eat during the day. Cereal would be OK too.
- You should wear white.
- You can say OM.
She thought that we should do this four times a year. I guess she has a lot of things going on in her head that she needs to think through.
This all came after a great day. She stayed home from school and we nermaled around the house, worked on our computers, fixed our GPS, took hot showers, did some house work, went to the library, cooked soup, picked up a baguette, wrote postcards for postcrossing.com, talked on the phone, watched a little TV, and had a great day. Although, many times during the day I was totally distracted. Apparently she was YELLING at me while I was vacuuming because she was getting scratched by the cat, but I didn't hear her. And apparently she asked me if it was the 7th, and I said yes, and then she wrote out an entire menu realizing it wasn't the 7th and then I said well "of course it isn't. It is the 6th." I REALLY was there with her... I was just processing in my own head too.
So you will find us sitting quietly on a Saturday in March, June, September, and December.
